We come from many different traditions and backgrounds, so we get lots of questions about Baptism & Communion.
Baptism is a sign of entrance into the community of faith. At New Hope, we celebrate when parents bring their children to be baptized. We also support those parents who decide to wait until their children are older and can make that choice for themselves. Once a person has been baptized (regardless of their church background) we do not
‘re-baptize’ them when they come to New Hope.
Communion is a sign of our ongoing need and God’s steadfast love. When we celebrate Communion, we recognize it as a gift for all Christians, not just Presbyterians or members of New Hope. Anyone who professes their need for God’s grace through Jesus Christ is welcome to participate at communion.
Baptism and Communion are important parts of our life together and we discuss them
more fully in our Exploring New Hope class.
