ABOUT US
ABOUT US
At New Hope, we put people first and work together to
make our life about something greater than ourselves
and that reflects God's love.
Whether you are conservative or liberal; young, or old; gay or straight; single, or married, grew up in the the church or didn't; unsure what you believe in, or uncertain; all are welcome here. Our differences make us better together.
Although church meets on Sunday, we believe the best example of being the church is how we live our lives throughout the week. Each day matters and our service to one another shows what it means when Jesus said: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." And, "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-38).
If you're looking for a church home, we welcome you to New Hope. The door is always open.
WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
New Hope is a place where we put people first. It's a place where you're celebrated for who you are and together we build lives that flourish and make a difference in our communities.
OUR VISION
New Hope can serve as the reset for your week, so your Monday - Saturday life may be filled with grace, hope, love, and understanding that you are worthy and God delights in you.
OUR VALUES
People Matter.
Christ did not live, die and rise again for the sake of doctrine, traditions, or dogma, but for people. And we err on the side of loving people.
Invite People to the Big Table.
The table is a symbol both of God's Grace and God's Mission. We don't use guilt, shame, or fear to bring people to the table, we invite them into the ongoing mission of God through Christ.
Discover Joy in Serving.
It is not in "getting" that we find the true joy of life, but in giving ourselves away to something that matters to God. We nurture gifts, talents, and passions that can serve the reality of God.
Seek the Sacred in the Ordinary.
There is no place or person for whom Christ did not live, sweat, bleed, die, and rise again. Therefore there is no place or person that is not sacred.
Foster a Holy Disconnect.
We will not treat conflict and discontent as enemies of peace, but we will listen to them for clues about what God wants to do next in our midst.
OUR HISTORY
THE EARLY DAYS
From the beginning, New Hope's founders established the church as a "frontier outpost" for a community still arriving. Our roots go back to the congregations of Louviers and Sedalia. These congregations started as mission fellowships in the early 1900s and grew into churches, which were chartered in the '20s and '30s.
THE START OF NEW HOPE
After much prayer, dreaming and discussion, the two congregations decided to join forces and start a new church in Castle Rock.
The new congregation was appropriately named "New Hope" and chartered in January of 1989.
TODAY
Much has changed since the early days of the churches in Sedalia and Louviers, yet the lingering characteristics of risking and reaching out with the gospel of Jesus Christ permeate this place. The memberships, facilities, programs, and staff of New Hope continue to grow as our mission continues to grow.
Our faith and history confirm God has great plans for New Hope, and we believe our best days are still ahead.
COMMUNION
COMMUNION
At New Hope we practice an open table. It's not New Hope's table, it's not a Presbyterian Table, it's God's table and all are welcome to participate.
As God invites us to the Table we are reminded that we are to live as Christ lived. We are empowered to remember to seek reconciliation with Christ, an act that compels reconciliation also with one another.
BAPTISM
BAPTISM
Baptism is a sign of entrance into the community of faith. At New Hope, we celebrate when parents bring their children to be baptized. We also support those parents who decide to wait until their children are older and can make the choice for themselves. Once a person has been baptized, regardless of church background, we do not 're-baptize' them when they join New Hope.
WEDDINGS
WEDDINGS
A wedding is a celebration of God's gift of marriage for the well being of the entire human family, and an expression of Christian discipleship.
