What About Worship

With all the talk about the Habits of Hope (Gather, Pray, Serve, & Learn), what happened to worship? Shouldn’t it be included?

The reason Worship isn't a single habit, but an activity that includes all the habits. Worship is THE formational event for a congregation and every worship service contains elements of Gathering, Praying, Learning, and Serving.

The purpose of worship (like everything else we do in church) is to shape, form and develop the character of the congregation as it embodies and extends the life of Christ. It too, is a way of offering ourselves to what God is doing in our world. A service of worship is meant to create a life of worship. Here is how Paul talks about our ‘spiritual worship.’

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life-your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life-and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. ~ Romans 12:1 The Message

As with all that we do, the test of our worship is the life it helps us live.

Question:

How have you found ways to engage in worship through the pandemic in ways that engages you?
