Confirmation 25-26
September 16, 2025
Dear Parents and Students,
It’s that time of year again—confirmation is about to begin!
Confirmation is an intentional journey where high school students explore the church, the Bible, the Christian faith, and the person of Jesus Christ. At the end of this process, each student decides whether to make a public profession of faith and officially join the church as a member.
A key part of this journey is mentorship. Each student is paired with an adult from the congregation who will walk alongside them through the experience. If there’s someone at New Hope you or your student would like to ask to be their mentor, please do! Most people are honored by the invitation. They may have questions about what’s involved, so feel free to send them my way. If you don’t have someone in mind, I’m happy to help make a thoughtful pairing.
Our confirmation experience runs from November to April and is designed not as a class, but as a dynamic exploration of faith. We meet monthly as a group with students and mentors. In between, students complete engaging activities—such as attending a different style of worship service, participating in service projects with their mentor, visiting a session meeting, and reading the Gospel of Luke.
We culminate this journey with a special celebration on Palm Sunday, where each student shares their personal statement of faith, followed by being received as members of the church on Easter Sunday. It’s a meaningful, transformative experience where students get to explore and affirm the faith that began at their baptism.
If your student is 9th-12th grade, they are eligible for confirmation, and we’d love for you to consider being part of this journey. To learn more, visit the Uth section on our website. If you’re planning to join—or have questions—please don’t hesitate to reach out at jordan@newhopepres.org.
